Lennox & Addington District When Victoria I! W! Member, Bonnie Magilton initiated the Adoptâ€"aâ€"Highway Project, four Branches in Lennox & Addington District (Kingston Area) stepped up to the challenge! Victoria I! WI, Amherst Island WI, Maple Ridge WI and Hay Bay WI have each adopted a 2km stretch of county road, and more Branches are coming on board! The Branches gather twice a year â€" in the spring and fall â€" to clean up the garbage along their stretch of highway. Beautiful signs have been erected by the county to indicate who looks after which section. Keep up the great work ladies! The 10 Member Branch compiled a total of 1,970 hours of volunteer service through working at an annual Daffodil CancerTea, preparation and participating in the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day, attendance at the FWIO Provincial Conference in Waterloo, and providing food services at the International Plowing Match. The Branch also looks after the upkeep of the local Kilmartin Cemetew. Norfolk District Members of Norfolk District (Hamilton Area) recently gathered together for a short course. In the morning, a W! Member showed the group how to make their own earrings, while the afternoon was spent making granny squares. Norfolk District has continued with various short courses for the past 30 years, and Members thoroughly enjoy attending them. Navan WI CTV reporter, Karen Soloman, presented the United Way Community Builders Award for201 0to Linda Dunn, President of Navan WI (Eastern Area). The Branch , located in Russell District, also saw its name on the Wall of Honour in Februan/ 2011, at Ottawa City Hall.
