Donegal WI Members of Donegal WI (Guelph Area) were kept in suspense until they reached their secret destination in Kemble, Ontario on their Mystery Tour. It was well worth the 2 hour drive to reach this beautiful lookâ€"out in Bruce County. On the outskirts of Kemble, the Kemble Women’s Institute Commemorative Cairn represents the 110th Anniversary of the Branch (in 2007). The one of a kind cairn roadside park is located overlooking the Georgian Bluffs on Island View Drive. It features a large piece of marble fashioned into a table. Secured to the stone table are several bronze pieces â€" 3 cups and saucers, a tea pot, cream & sugar, a plate of cookies and an open Tweedsmuir History Book, inscribed with the Mary Stewart Collect. Beside the table is a bronze chair, upon which visitors often sit to contemplate life, enjoy the scenery or have their photo taken. When the Donegal WI ladies arrived, they opened their meeting with the Maw Stewart Collect and Institute Ode. Bette Cockwell read the histon/ of the cairn and the ladies spent time enjoying the scenen/ and taking pictures of this marvelous piece of history. A highlight to their day was a surprise visit from a Kemble WI Member who happened to be driving by and stopped to welcome the Branch and take a group photo! Silver-Wood WI In the spirit of WI, which has a rich history of competitions, and to honour Mother Earth by only using ’found’ materials, Members were challenged to enter Silverâ€"Wood WI’s ’Green’ Craft Challenge. At least one recycled plastic fruit/pudding cup was to be included and nothing else used could be bought. Silverâ€"Wood WI Members had their entries judged at this year’s annual meeting. Prizes were also awarded for ’The Most Functional’, won by Linda Semerko, and ’The Most Creative’, won by Doris Calder. Those who did not enter the competition paid a $2.00 fine. Silverâ€"Wood WI is part of Wellingtonâ€"Halton District (Guelph Area). Codrington WI Codrington WI (Trent Valley Area) sure has some talented Members! The Branch recently held a meeting to showcase the creative hobbies that so many oftheir Members have. Betty Ann Clitherow shared her quilts, Mary Buck showed examples of her beautiful quilting and folk art crafts, Andrea Nelson and Mairi Beaven showed off their scrapbooks, Cheryl Lea brought along her paintings and Lise Paradis also shared a special craft.
