The Famous Five On October 18, 1929, the women who would come to be known as the "Famous Five,” changed history when they won the Persons Case. Since then, women have been considered 'persons’ and thus have the right to be appointed to the Senate. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Famous Five changing history, the Senate voted to appoint these extraordinary women honourary senators â€" the only Canadians ‘ to be given this recognition.
