PICKERING, ONTARIO Picture #1: Built in 1891 (on the left) Picture #2: New ST. ANDREWS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (Taken in 1972) THE. St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pickering was re-organized in 1932 with Rev. Dr. Carmichael as minister and met for worship in the Friends Meeting House and other locations. The congregation consisted of members of the St. Andrews United Church (formerly St. Andrews Presbyterian Church) who, with the addition of other Presbyterians in the neighbourhood, had decided to keep the flame of Presbyterianism burning in the Village. Under the ministry of Rev. David Marshall of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Whitby, the Presbyterian cause continued to grow and prosper in Pickering. Dissatisfied because they had no church home of their own, the congregation decided to build. A suitable plot of ground was produced on Church Street N. , just beyond the corner of Sherwood and Church. At great sacrifice and the untiring efforts of many willing hands, the task was finally completed. cont'd .
