Dr. Burns - earliest Doctor - 1851 - lived north of Head's Mill. Dr. Agnew Later practised here. Dr. Tucker practised till about 1875. Dr. Closson practised in Pickering. Dr. Field took over from Dr. Tucker till 1887. Drs. Rae & R. M. Bateman began in partnership which continued for 18 months. Dr. Bateman took over by himself till 1907. Dr. Bell bought the practise and Dr. Bateman moved to Toronto. He stayed 2 yrs. Dr. J. H. Eastwood - 1887 - practised for 8 yrs. - moved to Peterboro. Drs. Dewar & Young - spent a year each in Pickering. Dr. Towle - spent 2 yrs. in Pickering. Local Press Pickering News - 1st issue - Nov. 1881 by W. H. Higgins; also proprietor of Whitby Chronicle. James Campbell - editor till 1882. L. H. Ackerman - owner - editor till Nov. 1887 - followed by A. Richardson till March 1888. Clarke Bros. bought paper - continued to publish till October 1890. Joseph T. Clarke - editor. W. J. Clarke took charge in October - continued as editor & publisher - 1901. Murkar & Thexton - proprietor till Sept. 1907.
